Helping children in poverty
The blankets your squares will be make will be wrapped around orphaned or vulnerable children who live in care, orphanages or who themselves head up families in small houses. All these children live in great poverty.
Consistent squares
Making the squares as consistent in size and weight as possible will help our wonderful volunteers, grandmothers and others to join the squares quickly and easily into blankets for the children.
There are many photographs of the talented work being done by the members of our warm and friendly Square Circle forum. Please join us, the warmest crafters on earth, as we would love to meet you.
As a crafter, you will love our monthly themes. Sometimes it is all about the ‘plain Jane’ square and others about becoming as creative as you can be. The squares are mixed together, so each child enjoys not only the warmth of the blankets, but the textures, colours and patterns.
Have a look at our Square Gallery for inspiration. It comes with love and gratitude for your support from everyone involved in Knit-a-square, and especially the children and their carers.
