This Jigsaw Square has a step pattern crossing diagonally. By choosing complementary colours, this can create a wonderful effect.
Note: Pattern uses American terminology
American | = British |
slip stitch (sl st) | = single crochet (sc) |
single crochet (sc) | = double crochet (dc) |
To make the Jigsaw Square, with Color A, chain 29 (or a multiple of 4 plus 1).
Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and across; ch 1, turn. (28)
Rows 2-4: Sc in each st across; ch 1, turn. At the end of the 4th row, change to Color B.
Note: When changing from colour A to colour B, pull up the first loop for the single crochet in colour A, then pull colour B through the last two loops to complete the stitch. Crochet over the unused yarn as it is carried along the wrong side of the work. This hides the strand and eliminates having a loop of yarn carried across the back of the work.
Row 5: Sc in next 4 sts; change to Color A for the rest of the row.
Row 6: Sc in next 24 sts; change to Color B for next 4 sts.
