Put your protective arm around a cold child
We would love it if you would consider using these free crochet and knitting patterns to contribute to our crochet and knitting project and add to our efforts to warm some of the millions of children who have been so compromised by the twin perils of HIV AIDS and poverty.
The full extent of the tragedy in Africa remains mostly hidden as these small children battle to survive without love, shelter, education and warmth. If you loom, crochet or knit, you can help with the last.
Crocheting or knitting squares, hats, hand-warmers and toys for a cold child in Africa is like putting your protective arm around them.
These children, who have almost never owned anything hand-made, colourful, vibrant and WARM, will treasure the blankets your squares will make, the hats, hand-warmers and cuddly toys in the patterns we have collected for you to make.
You can find out more about our Knit-a-square wish list items here. And once you have loomed, crocheted or knitted your squares, please click here for the packaging and posting instructions.
Have a look at our Square Gallery for inspiration. It comes with love and gratitude for your support from everyone involved in Knit-a-square, and especially the children and their carers.
Come and join the warmest crafters on earth in our Square Circle forum and find out about our creative crafting monthly square themes. We can’t wait to meet you!
